Energy efficiency means using less energy to provide the same service. For example, a compact fluorescent bulb is more efficient than a traditional incandescent bulb as it uses less electrical energy to produce the same amount of light in particular. Similarly, an efficient boiler takes less fuel to heat and to a given temperature than a less efficient model. Now a days the phrase ‘Energy Efficiency’ is popularly used as a shorthand to describe any kind of energy-saving measure.
Increasing energy efficiency may often costs money up-front but in many cases this capital outlay will be paid back in the form of reduced energy costs within a short time period. This makes efficiency improvements an attractive starting point for reducing carbon emissions. Following energy efficient practice reduces the energy cost to industries and results in overall cost savings to the industry itself and their customers. Also, the environment is improved due to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a lower probability of environmental corrosion attack on structures, buildings and equipment.
The combination of a unique, cost-effective communication campaign design allows to establish an Energy Efficient Coalition or a Network at Bangladeshi Industries leading to support Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), Power Division, Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and fulfilling its commitment saving energy and directly contributing to the national economy.
Asian Network of Youth Volunteers Society (ANYV) had undertaken the task with the above objective to build a Business Coalition or a Network of companies/ organizations with a target that they commit to practice EE&C at their industry or the production system in particular. And in this connection it has planned the following two broader tasks under this project:
A. Building EE&C Business Coalition
i) Establish the basic principles that will support coalition, prepare a simple, powerful, short coalition letter.
ii) Listing and contact all probable companies/industries, policy makers, business leaders and individual stakeholder.
iii) Organize Networking/ Consultation Meetings at local levels.
iv) Getting Industries to sign on.
v) Formal Announcement of the Coalition by a National Seminar of all signatories and Media Reporting.
vi) Creating a Website and an Application Software (App).
vii) Trial Run & Launching of the Website and the App.
viii) Contact new companies to inspire them to sign on and also continuing follow-up and networking with all signatories.
ix) Creating mailing list or subscription list of the companies for exchanging news, updates and notifications.
x) Schedule conferences calls at a regular interval.
B. Building a full new concept “Queue to New” (Q2New) Promoting EE&C
i) Awareness Campaign
ii) Demonstration and field visits
iii) Exclusive Seminar or Workshop
iv) Critical analysis and promote the targeted companies /industries to be signed on
